    Although alcohol abuse has yields negative effects to organs, the liver is the on most heavily affected. Liver diseases are very important to attend to. The liver’s main purpose is to work as a filter. It’s prime responsibilty is to remove toxins from the body. All alcohol consumed passes through the liver. Alcohol does not have any detrimental and unhealthy effects on the liver when consumed in moderation, but heavy drinking can really hurt the liver. It can cause potentially fatal symptoms and conditions. So let’s talk about liver diseases; alcohol and the liver.

    Alcoholic Liver Disease
    Alcohol abuse could possibly result in Alcoholic Liver Disease. Hepatitis, steatosis, and cirrhosis are the various conditions that can quickly develop, destroying the liver in the process.

    Steatosis
    This is also referred to as “fatty liver.” This is a condition that develops after alot of alchohol intake when the liver completely stops stops metabolizing fatty acids. Instead, it metabolizes only alcohol. This results in a buildup of fat in the liver.

    Hepatitis
    Alcoholic hepatitis is a very serious condition where liver becomes inflamed due to heavy drinking. Fortunately alcoholic hepatitis can be reversed if the patient abstains from alcohol

    Cirrhosis

    Cirrhosis is a horrible condition in which healthy tissue is replaced with scarred tissue and normal liver functions, like the production of bile, cease. This is the final stage of Alcoholic Liver
    Disease.

    Acetaminophen and Alcohol

    Taking products containing acetaminophen severly increases the risk of alcohol-related liver damage. This includes small dosages of acetaminophen mixed with alcohol.
